  3. I just finished a novel written by Kelley Armstrong entitled the Summoning. It was a page turner! The main character, Chloe, is sent to a special hospital because her family thinks she's mentally unstable. You see, she sees dead people. Once at the hospital she discovers she is with other young teens with special talents. One has magical powers, another has super strength, and one has special abilities with fire. They discover some odd things about the hospital they are in and plan their escape. This book is a series. The other 2 books are entitled The Awakening and The Reckoning.

  5. Ally, That sounds like a great book. I'm putting that on my wish list.
Over the winter break I'm planning on reading The Host, by Stephanie Meyer. She is the author of the Twilight books. This book falls under the science fiction genre which I really enjoy. It's a rather long book so it may take me some time. Stay tuned for updates as I dive in and begin reading.

  7. My favorite book right now is The Kidnapping Of Christina Latimore. I recommend this book to both girls and boys. A great read that keeps you guessing. It's about a teenager, Christina, who has a rich family. She gets kidnapped and at first she thinks its for ransom but....well i can't say. The end also has such a great twist my mouth dropped when I read it, and I usually never react to a book! That is proof that it is good.

  9. Jenna, I'm thrilled you are enjoying the Christina Latimore book. It was a good mystery that kept you guessing until the end. What did you think of her grandmother?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Jade, Wicked is another book I need to add to my wish list. Have you ever seen the play?

    ReplyDelete
  11. The author did a great job of kind of shutting the reader out from the Grandmother's feelings but when they did she seemed like a snob or selfish. Then she didn't believe Christana about what happened at the end of the book!
And this isnt about the book but im super ready for my speech and i think the class will enjoy it!

  32. My favorite book is Out of my Mind. It is about this girl who is mentally handicap and she is around all these words and normal people. She loves words and she wants to be as normal as possible even though it doesn't usually happen that way with some of her problems. In the book it tells you some of the stuff that happened in her life. In either her 5th or 6th grade year she goes to this spelling competition and when she spells, people are amazed that she knows stuff.

  42. My favorite book that I've read in the past month is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is about a German boy who's father is a Nazi solider. The boy doesn't know that his dad kills Jews until his family is moved to another house in the country, where the boy goes exploring and meets a Jewish boy and becomes friends with him. I can't tell the end because someone might want to read it. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas rocks!!!

It is about a boy who has to fight for the most playing time at Running back he promised himself he wouldnt take steroids but then got talked into it. He ended up getting caught by his friend in the last game of the season. He and his friend go to a lake nearby and Mick (the main character) tries to kill himself but he did not and then he went to rehab.

  45. I just finshed Nadia Comaneci: Perfect 10 and My Sister's Keeper. The Nadia Comaneci book was about how she got discovered by Bela Karolyi (one of the best gymnastics coaches alive!), how she escaped from Romania and her perfect 10s. My Sister's Keeper was by Jodi Picoult and it was a really good book with this twist at the end! It was about this girl named Anna and she hired a lawyer to sue her parents because they kept on using her blood and bone marrow to keep her sister Kate alive without asking her if it was ok.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I just finished a book called Bounce its about this girl and her mom died when she was really young and she's really close with her dad and her dad is getting re-married. And it has to do with the struggles when you move to a new town and have to make new friends and the things she has to deal with, Its a really good book, one of my favorites this year and i would recommend it to a lot of people.

When the towns people find out that the wolf is someone in the village, Valerie's friends turn on her and Valerie can no longer trust anyone. This is probably a book for girls and I really liked it.

  63. I just finished reading They Call Me Coach by John Wooden. It's about the all time great basketball coach and his way of coaching through teaching. He also talks about when he went to college and how he played. I really liked it, and I give it a 10 rating.

    ReplyDelete
  64. One of my favorite books would be A Little Princess. It's not actually about a princess, it's about this girl who's really rich, then her dad dies so she becomes super poor. Since she's poor she has to work for the school that she went to. It's sometimes hard to read because it was written in 1910, but it's a good book.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Spencer, that sounds like a great book. I'm going to add it to my wishlist. I just got done reading a book called Heart of a Champion by Carl Deuker. This book is about a boy named Seth who gets into baseball but is constantly faced with challanges in and out of baseball. I would rate this book a 10 and recommend it for sports lovers.

    ReplyDelete
  66. My favorite book is Prettys by Scott Westerfeild. It is the second book of the uglies treo. It takes place many years in the future where everyone gets a very big operation that makes you perfect in every phisical aspect or pretty, as they call it. The first book, Uglies, starts out with this girl, Tally, and her friend got the operation three months earlier than her because he was born first. She meets a ggirl named Shay and they become friends but Shay doesn't want to be pretty, she thinks it's wrong. Shay runs away and the government tells Tally she can either find her friend and bring her back or never become pretty. That happends in the first book, if I told what happend in the second I would ruin the first book so I won't. I really like the future technology, the whole series is very cool.

    ReplyDelete
  72. This is Andrea I don't know how my name is going to turn out. Well anyways a great book I have read is Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. It is an amazing book, but rather slow in the beginning,(mainly because it's explaining the ScFi world they're in) but please don't let that stop you from reading the book! But I've already read Uglies, (and Pretties and Specials) I am now on Extra's (the last book to this amazing series) But if I tell you about any of the other books it gives away the ending to Uglies (and I really don't want to do that because someone did that to me) Well in Uglies the main Charter, Tally is about to turn pretty and all her other friends are already pretty. (You get an operation on your 16th birthday, So Tally's friends are all a few months older than her.) Tally misses her friends so much she decides to go over to New Pretty Town just to talk to them because without her friends she's just this ugly loner. But then when she was crashing that party in New Pretty Town she almost gets caught and is hiding and finds another ugly over in New Pretty Town hiding as well and they become friends. Her name is Shay, (they have the same birthday as well) but Shay isn’t so sure she wants to become pretty, and she wants to run away. She also wants to bring Tally with her but Tally thinks she’s crazy so she doesn’t. Then when Tally goes to turn there is a slight problem, she can’t unless she turns Shay in, and she promised Shay she wouldn’t but she also promised Peris she wouldn’t do anything stupid so she can still turn pretty and they can be best friends again. (Peris was the friends she went to meet in New Pretty Town.) Tally has a choice to go against society or against her friend. . . Her choice will change world forever, Tally’s life will never be the same, because Tally learns something about being pretty that isn’t so pretty.

Hope you read it, and hope you like it ;)

  93. I am currently reading Eragon by Christopher Paolini. Its about a farm boy named Eragon and while hunting for food, he stumbles upon a beautiful, blue stone. He soon discovers that this stone will change his life forever. The stone is an egg containing a dragon and one simple touch of the dragon hatchling transforms Eragon into a Dragon Rider. As the king Galbatrox discovers a new rider has come, he sends his assassins, the Ra'zac, to kill Eragon, instead, they destroyed his home and killed his uncle. An old story teller named Brom has discovered Eragon and shares his secrets and knowledge of the Riders. Despite having to take care of a massive dragon that could kill you with ease and hunting down your uncle's killers, Eragon is learning things that could save his life.....or destroy it. I'm not finished with the book but it has its slow parts and its action packed moments, but this book so far has been beyond great! The book has a sequel and another sequel. The second book is Eldest and the last one is Brisingr. So yeah, great book, and I hope a great series. Mrs.Sejnost, i have some recommendations for your library: The Revenge Of The Shadow King, The Rise Of The Black Wolves, and The Fallen Templar. Its a series too but they are amazing books!!!!!!!!

They find out they have to move because their dad got a job in a small countryish place named "Fir Lake." Katie doesnt like living in the country in their new big house. Micheala adapts quickly & makes alot of new friends. It is a really good book, I would reccomend it to girls. I rate this book a 10!

Its about these 4 friends in 7th grade and they have a sleepover and they friend Alison goes missing and they were with her all night. The book is about them getting texts from "A" and how they are all about secrets that only Alison knew about them! They are getting texts about their personal lives to. They start to become friends again throughout the book also. Sarah Renko is reading it to ;D Haha ! I'm on the second one now, "Flawless" I would rate both the books a 10 and they are more for girls.

  110. I read The Fallen Templar again because it was so good! Its the last book of the Grey Griffin Series by Derek Benz and J.S. Lewis. Its about a boy named Max and his father is REALLY, REALLY rich and his mother is also REALLY, REALLY rich but his mother doesn't care about him, only expensive designer clothes and fashion shows in Milan. Max's "other grandfather" Iver gets killed in a bombing against the Templars. As they search for the killers, they discover that ALL the evidence points to Max's dad because of an extremely powerful, magical sword (or staff). Max is in denial because Max believes that his father wouldn't do such a thing. Im not going to reveal the ending because that would ruin the tension (I think that is how its spelled), the emotion, the action, the adventure, and the fight of Max and his friends' lives. The first book The Revenge of the Shadow King is in the school library but the second book The Rise of the Black Wolves is not. Neither is The Fall of the Templar. You have not read a good book and/or series until you've read this series.

    ReplyDelete
  111. In the first sentence, the book isn't called The Fallen Templar, its really called The Fall of the Templar. I thought something didn't look quite right. Whoops.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Book Fair is still going on. It will be open during parent/teacher conferences.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Kenz, Reading about the lack of rights women had is very interesting. Stick with that book. It is non-fiction but as a young lady you should really learn how hard women struggled to gain the rights we so easily take for granted today.

  124. I am now moar than half way through catching fire and it is now starting to get a little depressing, (this seems to happen in all of the books, but dont let thst stop you from reading the series). B ut you just half to think that it will all get heart pumping again, there not dragging it out as much as the first book though. Right now i am just thinking how twisted around the story has gotten. In the first bookit allready starts to go in a bad direction but now it is just getting weirder and weirder, but im not tellin why.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Mrs.Sejnost that book that you were talking about in 5th hour sounded like a good book to read. What was the name of it again?

    ReplyDelete
  126. The books that I have been reading were the 39 clues and I'm just getting into the 6th book in the series. The 39 clues are about 2 kids Amy and Dan that are trying to find clues to become powerful at the end. Although, they were moving along nicely it has become very dangerous. All the clues that are found are so hard to figure out, that anybody would get a little headache trying to figure them out.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Jenna, i might get that boook it sounds good and funny but most likely we have drama at school 24-7 the last thing we need is to read about it but then again IM STLL GETTING ITTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  131. Jack, I think I may have been talking about Matched. I hope to be done with it by tonight. It's great. It reminds somewhat of the Hunger Games. It's based around a perfect society which is controlled by the government. You are matched with your mate when you are 17 and marry at 21. You are given perfect meals designed for your genetic make up. You are chosen for a specific vocation around the age of 17. You only live to the age of 80. The main characters, Cassia, Ky, and Xander, are beginning to have difficulty with all of this control. Great read!

I will bring it to school tomorrow. The first one to ask me about it can borrow it to read.

    ReplyDelete
  146. So, what will the new question be? I suggest something that has to do with music. Or animals, or shiny things, or squirrels!!! One of those! Or music playing animals with a shiny squirrel! (Extreme hyperness because I had some ice cubes and grape juice!)

The kids are in the process of trying to figure out where all the adults have gone. Some kids are freaking our, babies are crying, and others are trying not to be frightened but they really are. 162. I have just finished Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks. It was a good book. I would recommend this book to girls. I have also just finished reading Crank. It is about this girl who goes to her dad's that she hasn't seen in several years, for a few weeks. While she is there she is Bree. While she's with her mom, she's Kristina. Her real name is really Kristina, but Bree is her other half that is taking over by the monster. She falls inlove while she's at her dad's, but her boyfriend gets her addicted to drugs and she can't stop. When she gets back to her mom's she can't take live without the drugs. Something happens in the book but I won't tell you or else it gives the end of the book away. This book can get confusing but it is definitly a page turner. It is 537 pages and I read it in about 4 hours. It is written like poety, so it is east to read. There are a few more books in the series. I am currently reading Burned, the second book in the series.

  173. I just finished Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult and it was about this girl named Faith and she keeps on seeing God. Before she saw God her parents got divorced and her mom Mariah got custody over her. People foudnd out about this and wonder if she really is seeing God.When Faith's hands start bleeding her dad wonders if its a good idea to let Faith stay with her mom. So they go to court.
Right now I'm reading Handle with Care and its about this girl named Willow with OI ( a disease which bones break easily). So far, its about her sister(amelia), willow and their mom and dad go to Disney. While at disney, Willows legs break by standing. While at the hospital a nurse asked amelia if her family abuses her and willow. Amelia keeps on saying no to the questions but the nurse wont listen to her and keeps willow and amelia from their mom and dad.

  174. Alyssa, I forgot I read the book Keeping the Faith. I really enjoyed this book. The ending was a bit confusing. I remember Mrs. Rossi and I had a conversation about it. You can actually make a text to text connection with the book you are reading now because of the suspected abuse in both stories.

  175. The book that I have read is about two kids who have just found out about their ancient family history, separated into 39 clues found all over the world, Dan and Amy must find the clues and avenge their grandmother. The adventure begins when their grandmother past away and leaves something in her will, but some people who were not invited to the funeral insist on giving them 10'000 dollars and forget about it but Dan and Amy must solve the history of their powerful past.

  177. I read a book called Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. It is about a boy named Finn who woke up in a cell in the prison called Incarceron. When he finally escaped he met what the others prisoners call 'Scum' and became one of them. He and Keiro became oathbrothers (which means you mix blood and take a oath to watch the others back and if someone kills him its your job to take revenge.) They soon get a key and well it talks to them and helps them get out... It sounds kind of silly but its a REALLY great book filled with adventure and turns you didn't even know it could take. I am currently reading the second book Sapphique (Who by the way is a person in both of the books).
I hope someone takes my advice and reads them!!!
(By the way I loved the plays great idea Mrs. Sejnost.)

  181. Hi Tyler. Welcome to the world of blogging. Tell me about what you are reading.

  182. I am currently reading a book called 13 reasons why. This book is about a guy named Clay Jensen. Clay receives a shoe box filled with 14 tapes, suicide tapes. The person who recorded them is named Hannah Baker. She (as you know) killed her self with the overdoes on drugs and ends up passing, but before she dies she recorded tapes and put stars on a map so the people who receives the tapes may go to the place that she stared on the map. On the tapes she explains why she killed herself and who was involved and why they were.
I believe this book is suitable for girls and boys (but mostly girls). Everyone should read this book. It is a really Really, I mean REALLY good book (so far).:) Sara Mazurek

  187. Hi Mrs. Sejnost. I wasn't really reading The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore, but then I started reading it and I read every single chance I get, even if it is only half a paragraph!! I just can't seem to put it down!! Right now I am at the part where Christina is "reunited" with her family, but not even her mother believes that she was really kidnapped. Zack and Loretta are just lying so they won't be imprisoned and charged with kidnapping. It's a great book and whoever hasn't read it, really should!!

    ReplyDelete
  188. Karlee, It's really is a good read. When you get towards the end of the book, see if you can figure out the red herring in the story.

    ReplyDelete
  189. I just finished Gone and I really enjoyed it. Very interesting look at what may happen if all of a sudden all the adults in the world suddenly disappeared. The children actually turn against each other and a mini civil war occurs. You will love the protagonist and definitely despise the antagonist. Some children have special powers that really makes the story exciting. A great read! I promised the book to Hannah M. but I'm sure Mrs. Hardin ordered more copies for the library. I'm half way through Host. I will keep you updated on that one.

  190. I'm reading a book called "Think Twice" by Lisa Scottoline. Its about two twins that were separated at birth. The mom could only keep one and had to give the other up for adoption. The one that grew up with the mom was a successful lawyer with a lot of money and a great life. The other twin had a bad life and was sent to a mental hospital. Alice (the bad twin) got out of the hospital and kidnapped Bennie (the good twin) and buried her alive. Alice starts taking all Bennie's money and even kills her dog. I am on page 100 and there is like 300 pages but so far it is a page turner and i rate it a 10. This is for boys and girls.

    ReplyDelete
  191. Emily, Wow, Think Twice sounds like my kind of book. Another one that I will have to add to my wish list.
